Boo. Oh well. I had though I would definitely make the total thanks to the sci-fi lit class I took, but then this year I discovered video games and that was it :|

I still have plenty of books to read, so here's hoping for 35 books this year! 

Book highlights of the year:

•   Wild Seed by Octavia Butler (non western fantasy is so refreshing)
•   We by Yevgeny Zamyatin (the book that inspired 1984, but more elegantly written)
•   War with the Newts by Karel Capek (i don't even with this book. terrifying and brilliant)
•   Momo by Michael Ende (adorable and beautiful)
•   The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin (loneliness and alienation with a side of immigration politics) 

Blah blah. Happy 2011 everyone. Let's hope 2011 starts off better than 2010 ended...

So yesterday I got back from spending a week and a half with my honey in Seattle and the only thing I can think of is GOING BACK AS SOON AS FUCKING POSSIBLE.

It was stunning. I loved Seattle, and I really enjoyed PAX. Funny that I am not even much of a gamer, but I like the atmosphere of cons and all the people having fun and dressing up and stuff. Plus I got to meet up with tons of amazing people (Mej is the most kawaii thing ever and Kaz is the cutest tiny Sniper) and make some new friends. Didn't even get to play any games (except for a big failure of a TF2 tournament)  but I don't even really care about that.

Mostly it was about seeing Amanda and it was so wonderful. Despite going to the hospital and all it was still wonderful, just being there with her and I don't even want to wash my clothes or unpack or anything to ruin it - despite how sad I am. I had such a wonderful time just being there, in her presence, laughing and RPing and drawing and cuddling... wishing I could be back there doing just that :C 

I also think I got a touch of the PAX flu but later - just have a scratchy throat and some cough. Not too bad though, though I am really tired and have barely eaten anything.

I am hoping to make a return visit to Seattle soon, hopefully in late October. Here's hoping I get this library job so I can have more income than just a couple of commissions here and there. :T I have a second interview today so I am hoping it will go well and that a second interview is a GOOD sign that maybe I will get a better posting or something.

in any case i am so damn lonely now but i have stuff to work forward to, which helps. ;n;

bwoah shit anthrocon is next weekend :O holy crap time flies.
i am kinda frustrated because i barely have the money to GET IN but i am going anyway AND IT WILL BE AWESOME because so many awesome people ffffffffff- I hope that BLU Spy from last year will be there, aaaaaaaa
and savi will be there this year, oh my god i am going to panic and squeal! i wonder who else will be there? 

i am sad i don't have a cosplay either but man, i just can't get it to together /_\

i am excited though

also i am going to see a play with jen on tuesday, that should be awesome

i am so happy because i am in such a better place than last year, i was such an incredible mess it's hard to even think about without my stomach twisting up, but this year, despite tiny downfalls i am feeling really damn good. a lot more confident, discovering new things about myself, trying out new things.... ahhh.

i have pretty much only been drawing derpy stuff i tend to keep away from the general public, but i am drawing LOTS so i am VERY HAPPY. woo!

Got a new computer c:

Took so long to set this shit up because I had over 9000 problems but I am finally in gear and ready to go! this comp is amazing - so super fast, and QUIET. my old one was like a fucking motorboat. this i can't even hear. also was a really good deal - plus a really nice widescreen monitor - so crisp and clear *A* i can't wait to start doing digital art again!

plus plenty of space and ram, so i've had an easy transition. windows 7 has only posed a handful of problems.

my cat decided to bring me a mouse at 3 am (why is it always 3am??) and i thought (or hoped) it was dead, so i wasn't too thrilled but then he tried to jump on my bed with it and i totally forbid that shit, so he dropped the mouse and it RAN UNDER MY BED AND HASN'T COME OUT 8C so i guess i'll eventually have to go digging under my bed to find a dead mouse. ew 8CCCC

spring break is rolling by so fast and i haven't done anything. i need to get started on my paper, and i haven't even thought about it. admittedly, the only homework i've done so far has been reading Dune XD which is hardly homework at all because it's fun to read, even if a lot of stuff in it makes me exasperated.

so i guess someone hit a pole last night causing the electricity here to go nutty for a bit and thus it fried my power supply to the computer :( i am so sad about this. so i am on my laptop for the meantime, and deciding on if i should just buy a new power supply or just do what i sorta want to do and buy a whole new computer. which would be rad because mine is like 6 years old and in computer years that's like a centenarian. but yeah, so expensive, i do have some money but i would just hate to blow every last cent i have :( urghhh i wish i could get some decent commissions, doing 5 or so of those watercolor busts would give me a huge leg up. (do i even have time to do that many though??)

siiiiighhhhhhh i'm glad i guess it's spring break now, so i don't NEED my comp immediately right now, i can make do with the laptop, but i hope i can get this all worked out by the end because i have so much shit i have to do >:| urgghhhh massive research paper to start writing. i guess i can just start pulling together my notes and either write it on here OR like, do it the old fashioned way on paper hahaha.

hmmm using the laptop is kind of a pain so i might be scarce, just gonna focus on reading and drawing and such for awhile i think.

my backyard covered in like 2 feet of snow O u O out of nowhere yesterday and last night

last night was so weird, the massive amount of snow + cloud cover + light pollution made everything have this bright, eerie red glow. it was very very bright, brighter than a full moon but maybe not quite as bright as the beginning of sunset. cam couldn't catch it, but man. so bizarre.

i don't think we've had this much snow in.... years.

i hope classes will be canceled monday X3

OK so. Like almost a year ago I had the little idea to make a collection of my characters for public viewing and/or reference. (For what I have no idea, I guess it's a pretty masturbatory idea.)

So uh, I finished about 17 entries for  it, before I sort of completely crashed and I haven't really touched it since, but I think I want to pick it up again and also start to post the ones I finished.

Ok, so posting them in one big wall isn't gonna go over well. So I'm gonna post one or two at a time and then make a post that sticks at the top of my journal to keep them all together for a general reference.

I'm sorta nervous about this, I don't fear criticism as much as I fear a lack of response. But hey, you never know until you try.

I started the project with my lesser known characters, and I'm working up to my most known ones. I'm just gonna post them randomly for now cos I did them a bit scattered 6_9
